Antibodies to spontaneous and methylcholanthrene-induced tumors in inbred mice.

Isoimmunity to a methylcholanthrene-indueed fibrosarcoma and to a spontaneous breast adenocarcinoma was induced in female O3H/HeX mice. Circulating antitumor antibodies spé cifie for the particular immunizing tumor were detected in the immune mice. These antibodies did not appear until the primary tumors were surgically removed. Measurable amounts of anti body could be detected as long as 3.5 months following immu nization. Specific adherence of these antibodies to tumor tissue was demonstrated with fluorescent antibody technics. The presence of these antibodies correlated with the manifestation of increased host resistance to subsequent isologous tumor trans plants.
